$3B Tampa Renewal Project Adds an UrbanTech Accelerator

Building the Cities of the Future

By 2040 the United Nations estimates that nearly 65 percent of the world’s population will call cities home. As populations continue to surge in urban areas, startups will play a crucial role in deploying technology, making cities smarter, and solving critical problems in areas like real estate, energy efficiency, construction, and transportation.

Today we are launching Dreamit UrbanTech, an accelerator program in partnership with renowned investor and owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Jeff Vinik. Accepted startups will gain access to a national customer network as well as the opportunity to interface with one of the largest real estate development projects in North America led by Strategic Property Partners, a joint venture between Jeff Vinik and Bill Gates’ Cascade Investment.

Once all phases of development are completed, there will be up to 9 million square feet of new commercial, residential, educational, entertainment, cultural and retail space with a total investment exceeding $3 billion.

The Dreamit Advantage
Dreamit provides unparalleled access to coaching, customers, and capital. Throughout the 14 week program, startups will receive hands-on coaching from managing directors in preparation for our two capstone events:
  • Customer Immersions – We arrange showcases and meetings with leading organizations to provide you with critical feedback from industry stakeholders, build your pipeline and close more customers.
  • Investor Roadshow – We curate one-on-one meetings with leading VC firms, corporate venture and angel networks across the US to accelerate the fundraising process and develop valuable relationships.

Applications are due on or before June 23. The program kicks off on September 11 and concludes on December 22. Participating startups should expect to spend time in Tampa Bay as well as 4 weeks traveling for the immersions and roadshow.
